Abstract

PT Cipta Niaga Gas (PT CNG), started operation in 2008, is the first company in Indonesia that produces and distributes a high pressure natural gas product, known as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Despite the market leader position, PT CNG is experiencing problems that weaken its ability to provide a continuous supply of product to the customers, which can negatively impact the company’s future business performance. The lack of reliable equipments for gas distribution is identified as the main source of the problems, as well as the unadequate systems for inventory control, warehousing and procurement for the related machines and spareparts. This research is aimed to improve those three supporting systems, focuses on the machines and equipments critical to the installation and maintenance works at customers’ sites, which comprises of compressor engines, cylinder mobile storages, MRS equipments and their spare-parts. Improvements to the inventory control system include decisions on material classifications, stock level, optimum order size and re-order pattern. Improvements to the warehousing system include layout design and administrative procedure. Improvements to the procurement system include criteria for supplier selection, main contract clauses and procurement procedure.
